We recently held another successful Speed Networking event specifically designed for our Business T-Level Students.

The event was hosted at Origins, where a diverse range of companies attended, including notable organisations such as SATH — Finance, Therapy Services, Staff Psychology, White Orchard, Shropshire Homes, and several others. Each business representative took the time to deliver an engaging presentation, highlighting their company’s mission, values, and opportunities available for students. Following the presentations, students had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with each employer for three minutes. During these interactions, students presented their written CVs and small CV cards that they had prepared in advance. This not only allowed them to make a strong first impression but also helped them practice their networking skills in a professional setting.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Meg and Rubeena for their outstanding organisation of the event, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Additionally, we are immensely grateful to all the businesses that took the time to attend and connect with our students, helping to bridge the gap between education and industry. Your participation made a significant difference in our students' professional development.

Laura Speed, Therapy Services, NHS

“Thank you for hosting the event yesterday and extending the invitation.

It was lovely to meet all your students yesterday, they all demonstrated maturity and professionalism.   They are a credit to you and your team, wonderful to see the opportunities that are available to young

I am pleased to confirm that we would be keen to offer a placement similar to what we have provided for Taona at both Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury (based at William Farr).”

Andy Sheldon, Land Director, Shropshire Homes

“Thank all the students for their interest and time as I was really impressed by their enthusiasm, dynamic approach and communication skills.”

Jennifer Wadhams, Owner, White Orchard

"I was thoroughly impressed with the format Shrewsbury College put together to introduce local businesses who are interested in providing work experience to students working toward their T-levels. I know the students were nervous, but I think they did a brilliant job and we look forward to watching them grow throughout their studies. We hope the two spots we can offer will add valuable real world experience they can carry with them throughout their future careers. "

EJ Hobson-VandenBos, Shrewsbury Bid

"We were so impressed by the T-Level students we met with, all of whom showed a level of composure most of us couldn't imagine having had at their age and career level. The drive and determination demonstrated by not just their words but the experience they'd already achieved through volunteering and entry-level work to date was outstanding. We hope to continue to be part of this initiative in future and congratulate SCG on providing a great opportunity for their students to make real-world business connections in the local area."
