Who is it for?
The AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping develops existing skills and knowledge at Foundation Level to an advanced level for anyone wishing to continue or pursue a career in bookkeeping.
This qualification is suitable for those who have completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping and may help students already working in a bookkeeping role to progress by offering them formal recognition of their skills. The AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping is open to those who are working and those who are not currently in employment.
This is also a useful route for learners who want to set up as independent bookkeepers, upon completion of all exams learners gain qualified bookkeeper status (AATQB).

Entry Requirements
It is expected that students will have successfully completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting Course or have some other recognised finance / accounting qualification. Alternatively, we do accept students who have gained sufficient accounting experience in their place of work.
AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths. If students do have any other relevant school or college qualifications, a degree or some accounting experience, these may in certain circumstances entitle students to claim exemptions.

How is the course assessed?
All assessments in the qualification will be computer based assessments (CBAs). CBAs are an up to date method of assessment that directly reflect the practical tasks that you currently perform or will be performing in the workplace. CBAs offer you greater flexibility as you can take these assessments as and when you are ready and with the agreement of your tutor. Also, as many CBAs can be marked automatically, you will get a provisional result straight away.
Grades:
The pass mark is 70%. You will be issued a report which indicates how well you performed in the exam along with a ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ grade.

Additional Notes
If you have achieved at Level 3, you may be eligible for entry on to AAT Level 4 or Higher Level Apprenticeships, HND and/or a BA Degree. If you opt to take Level 4, you will be able to apply for full membership on completion of the examinations and after demonstrating key competencies and experience. Level 4 AAT Diploma in Accounting
I wanted to change my career and went to work with D.R.E & Co. Chartered Accountants, who put me onto this course to get all my qualifications. After I have finished studying at SCG I will do my charter training at university. This is a widely recognised qualification that you need if you want to be a Junior Accountant.
