What does the course involve?
This Supported Internship programme has been developed in partnership with Project Search and ESS Compass Group at RAF Cosford.
It is a one year programme that is aimed at young people aged 18-24 with an EHCP. The programme is based in a real working environment where you will participate in workplace rotations within ESS. You will be able to select rotations that reflect your interests and ambitions, including catering, administration, domestics amongst other areas. This will be supported by short classroom sessions to help you develop the skills you need for the world of work.
Working with a tutor and a Job Coach you will have the opportunity to learn and practice essential skills in a real working environment. Through a process of support and systematic instruction, you will learn the various skills you need to carry out your job role.
You will develop enhanced communication skills, behaviour and conduct awareness for the workplace and safe working practices as well as continue to develop the literacy and numeracy skills that you will need in the workplace.
-
How is the course assessed?
You will be trained to complete a variety of tasks and will be continuously assessed in the workplace receiving feedback and support to help you meet the required standards. You will work towards personal and work-based targets to help you be successful in gaining employment after the programme. Your job coach will help you develop the skills needed to be an effective employee.

16-18 ESOL
You learn lots of vital skills on the ESOL course, like how to conduct yourself in interviews and manage your time and coursework. I really enjoyed the course and became more confident with my presentation skills. The ESOL course has helped me to improve my English and given me the opportunity to learn new things every day. Now I have a better job, new friends and more free time. At SCG I have been taught to read, write and speak better English.

16-18 ESOL
ESOL gives me the chance to study, improve my English and decide what I want to do in the future. I also like how the teachers explain things when I don’t understand something. The teachers treat us all the same, wherever we come from and other students show respect to each other. The College has given me the chance to learn and do things I haven’t done before.
