We don’t know you, but we want to. Your personal statement is an opportunity for you to share your story, your experiences, your ambitions, and your skills with us. Here are some pointers on crafting a strong personal statement:

  • Explain your reasons for choosing the course you want to study. Reflect on personal experiences, accomplishments, goals, and skills. Do you have any hobbies related to your chosen field of study?
  • Be genuine and be yourself. Joining Shrewsbury Colleges Group is all about self-discovery and finding your place, so it's important to express who you are. Stay true to your own voice.
  •  Proofread your work, and ask someone else to proofread it as well. Check for grammar and punctuation errors. Remember, avoid using ChatGPT and avoid copying and pasting. ChatGPT doesn't know you, so why let it write about your life?

It is between 250 and 300 words, so you don’t need to waffle, just go with the flow and find yourself in your writing. Be bold in your opening and closing statement, make it memorable.

Good luck and we look forward to welcoming you to the college!
