The Academy offers industry-standard treatments and services for the students to learn all aspects of Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy.

You can book treatments with the students at a price that reflects that they are still in training, but with the reassurance that all services are overseen by experienced lecturers.

The Academy offers all of the treatments you would expect in a commercial salon. For example, we provide beard trims, facial massage, colour correction and creative cuts.

Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy students at the Academy regularly get involved in events to help out in the community or to raise money for charities.

A Level Textiles (English Literature, Geography)
Previous school: Bridgnorth Endowed School

My family are designers and I wanted to follow a similar pathway, but Textiles A Level was not offered at my local College, so I came to SCG. The facilities here are amazing and they have allowed me to develop my interior and printing skills. Studying Textiles has been a really fun way for me to explore what I enjoy - you can choose to work in so many different ways. Screen-printing is my favourite and I have been able to create stencils like a professional. I will be going to university next year to study Textile Surface Pattern.

A Level Drama & Theatre (Law, English Combined)
Previous Institution: Shrewsbury Academy

I didn’t have a lot of confidence at school, but I took the opportunity of a new environment and new peers to study Drama & Theatre. The teachers are brilliant and really make you feel comfortable. I will be going on to do a Law degree, but the confidence I have gained in Drama & Theatre has helped me pursue this path.

A Level Electronics (Product Design, Business BTEC)
Previous Institution: Welshpool High School

SCG was the only College that offered Electronics A Level in the local area and I also wanted a fresh start in a new environment. I studied systems and control at GCSE and really enjoyed the electronic elements. I am quite an independent learner and the teachers allow me to read ahead and go at my pace. Next year I will be working, but I then want to study electronics at university - possibly kick-starting my career in circuit or product design.

A Level Physics (Chemistry and Maths)
Previous school: Bishop's Castle Community College

Doing Physics at A Level confirmed to me that I wanted to continue it at university. It is a challenging subject, however all the hard work is worth it and very rewarding.

A Level Product Design (Media Studies and Music)
Previous school: Belvidere School

I took Product Design at A Level because I was inspired by my GCSE teacher. I really enjoy how hands on the subject is and using the computers to bring your designs to life. You can explore your creative side in a relaxed environment.
