Who is it for?
By taking the Health T Level, midwifery specialism, you join the community of carers who profoundly affect the people they work with. The T Level courses are designed to provide a complimentary mix of classroom-based, simulated learning and industry placement to support theoretical and practical skills development. You will learn the core science and key regulations to be effective in any health setting.

Entry Requirements
You will need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths and science. You must be positive, dedicated, and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. You will also need to apply for a DBS check.

What does the course involve?
You will learn the core science and key regulations you need to be effective in any healthcare role. Following this, you will join a real-life midwifery team for 45 days to enhance your practical understanding and where you will complete your employer-set project.
Course Content
The first year of the T Level comprises of:
Core A:
• Working in the Health care sector
• Infection control
• Safeguarding
• Health and safety
• Person-centred care
• Health and well being
• Good clinical practice.
Core B:
• Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) -
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed using a variety of methods including placement, Employer Set Project, 2 exams, practical activities, presentation skills, teamwork and communication skills and a professional discussion.

Additional Notes
By the end of your course, you have the skills and knowledge to step confidently into a midwifery role. Your T level also prepares you to progress to a higher level apprenticeship or a degree, giving you a choice of progressions.

When I was younger I spent a lot of time in hospital and the wonderful staff inspired me to pursue a career as a midwife. The teachers always answer your queries and help you manage your time. Last year I got a distinction for Level 2 and was eager to come back this year. The partnership between SCG and the NHS offers an amazing opportunity. I really enjoyed my placement at The Column Nursery. The staff there were very friendly and approachable. Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care
I chose to study a Foundation degree in Health at Shrewsbury Colleges Group as I could study alongside my job at the time (in social work). I found the course manageable and worked hard to fit the work around my job/life. My tutors were super supportive as I was an adult learner returning to studying for the first time since school and things have moved on a bit since that time! I used the FD as a stepping stone to progress into a full degree in Health Studies at university and the skills learned enabled me to attain a first in my degree. I am now the co-owner of a business related to the health sector and have a great work/ life balance.
