Who is it for?
This is a two-year technical study programme, designed with employers to give young people the skills that the childcare and education sector needs. The core element of a T Level in Education and Childcare will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding in a broad range of topics such as child development, safeguarding, and special educational needs, as well as learning about the role of families and support agencies.
It will provide a mixture of technical knowledge and skills, an industry placement of at least 45 days in childcare settings, with a minimum of 750 hours, and relevant maths, English, and digital skills. -
Entry Requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a BTEC level 2 Diploma plus GCSEs or Functional Skills at level 2 in English and maths.

What does the course involve?
The course will include the following topics:
• Support the nursery teacher to enhance children’s education, individually and in groups
• Plan, provide and review educational opportunities in collaboration with teachers and other adults
• Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people
• Recognise and respond to individual children’s needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disability, to support development and access to the curriculum. -
How is the course assessed?
Varied assessment methods will be used including:
• Roleplay
• Group work
• Portfolio of evidence
• Observation of activity
• Scenario projects
• External assessments

T Level in Childcare and Education will provide the perfect opportunity for you to develop your skills, knowledge, and understanding of a wide range of childcare and education-related topics that will prepare you for progression to degree level education, a higher apprenticeship, or direct entry into employment.
Potential Careers include Teacher, Health Play Assistant, Nursery Worker, Play Therapist, and Teaching Assistant.
Your study programme will consist of working towards the childcare and education technical qualification, projects, industry placement(s), trips and visits, speakers from industry and universities, preparation for progression, and enrichment activities. -
