    A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language

  • What does the course involve?

    This specialised course offers you the opportunity to undertake work placements for hands-on practical experience. Our expert and experienced teachers will ensure you learn the practical fundamentals of the course in a supportive environment to ensure that you achieve your full potential.

    You will study a combination of units and topics which include communication, health & safety, equality and diversity in the first year, and public health, anatomy and physiology and psychology in the second year.

    This subject encompasses psychology, biology, sociology and law and this blend complements a range of other A Levels. This practical course concentrates on understanding how theory underpins practice; placements in a variety of settings are a valuable component of the course in both years.

    Health & Social Care provides vital preparation for many relevant university courses by providing:

    • Essential skills and knowledge for working in the field of health & social care, or those associated with it
    • The ability to investigate ways of empowering individuals who use health & social care services
    • Self-management skills by researching and applying your knowledge and understanding to real-life scenarios.
  • Additional Notes

    Many students progress into university or employment, which includes study or work in: teaching, teaching assistants, nursing, social work, physical therapist, paramedic science, occupational therapy, art therapy and healthcare.

  • Further Information

    Placement opportunities are provided for students on this course in settings such as hospitals, schools and other social care settings. We have a dedicated placement co-ordinator who will work with you to arrange a suitable placement.
