We are the only college in Shropshire to offer Spanish, French and German A Levels, plus evening courses at beginner and improver levels. We have a team of experienced language teachers and an excellent range of resources to support your studies. You’ll have a weekly opportunity to practise your spoken language with a native assistant. There is also opportunities for trips abroad, exchanges to France and study trips to Spain and Germany.
The ability to communicate in a foreign language is a very valuable asset in an increasingly globalised world. Studying a language A Level will allow you to progress to a higher level at university or to use the acquired skills to enhance your CV and employment prospects in a range of careers. Almost 90% of our previous students have gone on to study languages in higher education, often with other subjects such as law, history or business, and a number have used their language skills to work abroad.

A Level French and German (History and Politics)

The College offered me the freedom I wanted as I couldn’t study German at my previous school’s sixth form. I want to study French and German at university and go into diplomatic service after that, so languages are very important for me. I enjoy the depth we go into in each language and because the classes are smaller you can dive into more issues with your teachers and peers.

Modern foreign language A Levels are in high-demand and something you can use in everyday life – it is an amazing skill to have and not many other colleges offer German A Level. Having a language on your CV can open doors for you. The oral presentations and debates in class build your confidence. I really like the size of the classes and we have all the resources we could need. I plan to study French and German at university.
