  • Entry Requirements

You will need to be aged 18-24 and hold an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that has been issued by your Local Authority.  All candidates will be interviewed for suitability and take part in a selection day. You must also be highly motivated and have a desire to secure paid employment after the programme concludes.

  • What does the course involve?

This Supported Internship programme has been developed in partnership with Project Search and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

It is a one year programme that is aimed at young people aged 18-24 with an EHCP. The programme is based in a real working environment where you will participate in workplace rotations within the hospital.  You will be able to select rotations that reflect your interests and ambitions, including catering, education, administration, domestics, estates and portering.  This will be supported by short classroom sessions to help you develop the skills you need for the world of work.

Working with a tutor and a Job Coach you will have the opportunity to learn and practice essential skills in a real working environment. Through a process of support and systematic instruction, you will learn the various skills you need to carry out your job role.

You will develop enhanced communication skills, behaviour and conduct awareness for the workplace and safe working practices as well as continue to develop the literacy and numeracy skills that you will need in the workplace.
