Although the course is vocational in nature, knowledge and understanding and the application of work-related skills are continually assessed through a sport studies approach. The course includes significant self-study, such as assignments.

  • How much does it cost?

    You must be prepared to supply all of your sports clothing and equipment. A kit list will be provided prior to starting the course. A contribution towards educational visits may also be requested. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, you should approach Student Services for assistance.

  • Who is it for?

    Sports Science and the study of sport performance have increased in popularity and prominence over the last few years.

    This course is for you if you are keen on the practical, theoretical and scientific application of sport.  This course offers you the opportunity  to continue your studies and research into this fascinating subject area at one of the many excellent universities specialising in sport performance, sports coaching, sports therapy or perhaps move into the leisure industry.

  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 of an appropriate subject which includes Maths, English, PE and Science.

    Maths and English are preferable for Extended Diploma routes.

    A keen interest in both the theoretical and practical aspects of sport and fitness activities is essential.  100% effort, punctuality and attendance are required.

    This course provides excellent preparation for careers within the sport and fitness industries and can support entry into higher education. It develops the skills and knowledge students will need to thrive in a professional sports and fitness environment, focussing on the practical and theoretical aspects of a general sports application. Our experienced and knowledgeable teachers will guide you through this two-year course and help you to achieve your potential in this fascinating subject.

    A consistently high level of mental and physical effort is required, along with full participation in all practical and classroom sessions. This is an endorsed qualification through CIMSPA.

     

  • Additional Notes

    There are many options from the successful completion of this course. You can continue your studies through to Level 5 via our own bespoke HND in Sport. You will need to achieve an average of merit grades to progress.

    There are other several higher education or career opportunities after the successful completion of this course including: personal training, wellness management and nutrition, coaching, leisure management, sports development, teaching, physiotherapy, psychology and gym instructing.
