Who is it for?
This 8 week course is offered in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment, for complete beginners and those with a little experience in ceramics, who wish to experience the creative and absorbing possibilities offered with clay.
During the course the tutor will provide group demonstrations and individual support, to ensure learners can work at their own level and pace.
This course can be used to gain confidence and relaxation.

Entry Requirements
No previous knowledge is required just a keen interest in Ceramics. Full demonstrations and guidance will be given by the tutor.

What does the course involve?
This 8 week course will give you a working knowledge of basic construction handbuilding (no wheel throwing) & decorative method within ceramics. it covers an introduction into coiling and slab building, preparation methods and basic surface decoration using coloured slips - trailing and sgraffito.
Methods will be presented by demonstrations, handouts and examples of finished samples, enabling each individual’s creativity to develop.

Please bring an apron or overall to use, and please wear suitable clothing and footwear to all sessions.

At the start of the course, you will decide what you want to gain from the course.
Group discussions and opportunities to chat with the tutor at the end of the course will offer reflection of what you have learnt and how you have improved your skills.
You may wish to progress to one of our Art and Design courses at either level 2 or level 3.
