No previous knowledge is required, just a keen interest in the subject.

What does the course involve?
The sessions will be a mixture of theory and practical work where possible. There will be at least one local field trip to put into practice the key elements of the course. You will cover: camera control basics including exposure and focusing; the use of composition tools and the value of understanding appropriate lighting. An introduction will be made to the basics of image processing.
You will cover: the SLR camera and its controls, focal length, prime lenses, zoom lenses, shutter speeds, apertures, depth of field, film speed, colour temperature, filters, composition and lighting. There will also be one session on image manipulation for photographers with Adobe Photoshop or PaintShop Pro.

How is the course assessed?
No formal assessment, however one to one and group guidance will be given by the tutor on how to improve and get better results over the course.

You will need to bring your own SLR camera to use on the course.
