A mixture of exams and coursework. There are two exams in total and five coursework based subjects where you build up a portfolio of evidence.

  • Who is it for?

The Level 2 Cambridge Technicals in Business qualification aims to develop your understanding and skills of the essentials of the business industry.. Students will gain an insight into the business sector and develop applied knowledge and practical skills in business administration, retail and customer service sectors. Designed in collaboration with industry experts, the qualifications focus on the requirements that today's employers demand.

It is important to have a lively and inquiring mind, an interest in business and a willingness to explore new ideas. An ability to communicate your ideas effectively and demonstrate good organisational skills are also important. If you do not have these skills on joining college then we will help you gain them. You do not need to have studied business before in order to take a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business course.

  • Entry Requirements

You will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 3 or above, preferably, including English and Maths.

  • What does the course involve?

Our business course will enable you to develop the necessary skills for a career in business, marketing, events management, finance, retail management or banking. Our expert teachers will also equip you with the skills required to set up your own enterprise, manage people and deliver projects. You'll study this flexible course in great surroundings which will aid your learning, and you'll have expert advice on hand to guide you through this fascinating subject.

    You will study 7 subjects:
    - Principles of working in business
    - The role of an administrator
    - Social media for business
    - Administration support
    - Administration practices
    - Communication in business
    - Supporting the organisation of an event

  • Additional Notes

You can go onto the Level 3 course in Business at the London Road Campus, or you may choose a career in human resources, marketing, finance, sales, or retail.

  • Further Information

Students will be involved in a range of practical activities to enhance their business skills including office based skill competitions and helping to support and stage your own business event.

A work placement in a high profile local organisation will also be arranged where you will be able to apply skills learnt in the classroom. Study trips away from the classroom have included 4 night residentials to London, plus day trips to Liverpool and Birmingham, and visits to local organisations to see theory applied in real life.

Successful completion of the course could result in progression onto a Level 3 T Level in Business or a Level 3 Diploma. Alternatively suitable pathways into business related jobs or business/business administration apprenticeships are other routes available.

  • What do I do next?

You can apply online via the APPLY button. You can also apply for a second, alternative programme of study such as A Levels via a separate application. If after reading this factsheet, you are still undecided about the course most suitable for you, please drop into one of our open evenings, ring the Admissions Department on 01743 653111, or email admissions@scg.ac.uk
