Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation

An introduction for people thinking about a career in electrical installation. Whether it’s powering people’s homes or working on large-scale energy projects, there is constant demand for electricicans in the sector. Our specialist teachers will guide you through a variety of different practical tasks and techniques as well as giving you a wider introduction to the basics of electrical installation.

GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.

This Diploma covers: Health and safety, the structure of the construction industry, electrical installation craft skills and installation methods and electrical science. The learner will have the opportunity to utilise the IET Onsite Guide, and also be introduced to how regulations (including BS 7671) affect electrical installation. The qualification covers standard circuits as described in the Onsite Guide. 

The course comprises the following units:

• The structure of the construction industry
• Fundamental safe working practices
• Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
• Site preparation for working in the construction industry
• Electrical installation, wiring and terminations
• Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
• Electrical science and technology.

Each unit will be assessed by written assessments supported with practical assessments throughout the year. Practical assessments are carried out in our workshops.

You will be expected to provide your own overalls, safety shoes and contribute to the cost of any additional enrichment activities. 

If you are aged 19 or over, fees for tuition, exams and materials may be payable on enrolment.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the option to progress to a Level 2 Electrical Installation course. An alternative option would be to do an apprenticeship.
