Assessment consists of an online theory exam at the end of May and a synoptic practical assignment in June.

    • Lever arch file and paper
    • Pens & coloured pencils
    • Scientific calculator
    • Drawing instruments; ruler, protractor etc
    • Current version of the on the site guide to BS7671:2018+A2:2022
  • Who is it for?

    This course is ideal for those who want to work as electricians or in other related disciplines in the building services engineering sector (such as Industrial/Commercial electrician, Residential electrician, or self-employed electrician or contractor). Building upon the knowledge gained from the Level 1 Electrical course, this qualification also introduces some of the content of the current electrical apprenticeship, and is therefore a major step towards becoming a fully qualified electrician. 

    You will be guided through the course by our teachers who are all fully qualified electricicans with many years of industry experience. 

  • Entry Requirements

    Students must have attained a minimum of grade 5 in GCSE Maths and a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE English and Science.

  • What does the course involve?

    This course covers:

    • Health & Safety
    • Principles of electrical science
    • Electrical installations technology
    • Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
    • Communication within building services environments

     

    A combination of practical and theory-based work provides the footing needed to succeed in the plumbing industry. The course also forms part of the plumbing apprenticeship framework Standard which can be used towards the completion of a full Advanced electrical apprenticeship at Level 3. 

  • Additional Notes

    Upon completing this course, you will have mastered the intricacies of electrical installation, allowing you to move into full-time employment. This will enable you to apply your expertise in various residential or commercial settings, either employed directly with an electrician or through an apprenticeship. You can also gain further qualifications at Shrewsbury College by completing the HNC/HTQ in Construction Management for England course at our Higher Education Centre. Alternatively, you could continue your studies and progress to the T Level in Design, Surveying & Planning for Construction and gain advanced skills across all aspects of modern construction.

    Students have opportunities to enter local, national, and international competitions such as the UK SkillElec competition.
