Please note:
Training for this course will take place on Thursdays on the following dates:
09/01/25, 16/01/25, 23/01/25, 30/01/25, 06/02/25
Online Theory Assessment will take place on the last day of the training (06/02/25).
Practical Assessment will take place between Monday 10/02/25 and Friday 14/02/25. Candidates will be allocated a time slot for Practical Assessment in pairs.

Who is it for?
Practising electricians currently working in the industry. Prospective candidates must first register their interest, and will then be contacted by one of our specialist Electrical staff to check their eligibility for the course prior to enrolment.

Entry Requirements
This course is designed for electricians with experience of testing who wish to develop these skills.
Candidates should hold a Level 3 Electrical qualification such as: City & Guilds 5357, 2357 or equivalent.

What does the course involve?
- Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
- Requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
- Requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
- Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates, electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation
- Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
- Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
- Existing installations' Health and Safety requirements

How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed as follows:
- Unit 502 - Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing which includes;
- Task A – A visual inspection exercise (30 mins)
- Task B – Practical Inspection, Testing & Certification assessment (2 hrs 30 mins)
- Task C – Short answer written exam, open book (1 hr 20 mins)
- Unit 052 - Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing, 2-Hour Online open book multiple choice test.
