100% Exam - There are three final exams as well as the practical endorsement in Chemistry.

  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, grade 5 or above in Maths and grade 5 or above in GCSE Chemistry, with a further GCSE science subject at grade 5 or above or at least 5:5 in GCSE Combined Science.

  • What does the course involve?

    Chemistry helps you understand the world around you. It plays a role in almost every action on earth and can help us make informed decisions, understand substances and their properties. Chemical scientists are leading research on the world's most pressing concerns, including challenges around human health, climate change, and energy. This A Level is highly valued and leads to a wide variety of careers. You'll gain the breadth of knowledge you need to pursue a career in Chemistry or go on to further study. You'll benefit from studying with highly qualified teachers and in excellent specialised teaching facilities.

    Year 1

    Studies focus on: foundations in chemistry, the periodic table and energy, core organic chemistry and practical skills in chemistry.

    Year 2

    Studies focus on: physical chemistry, the transition elements, organic chemistry, analysis and practical skills in chemistry.

  • Additional Notes

    Support is provided for those interested in applying for Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry or Biomedical degrees including: expert speakers, UCAS admissions support, UKCAT / BMAT preparation advice, university visits, and work experience.

  • Further Information

    Typically, 95% of our students progress to a wide variety of university courses, including degrees in chemistry, biology, physics, medicine and pharmacy. A qualification in chemistry offers career opportunities in many sectors such as environmental science, renewable energy and forensic science to name but a few.

    You can apply online via the APPLY button and then add an additional two or three subjects to make up your academic programme. Where can it take me?

Pharmacists

Pharmacists dispense drugs and medicaments in hospitals and pharmacies and advise on and participate in the development and testing of new drugs, compounds and therapies. They counsel on the proper use and adverse effects of drugs and medicines.

Chemical scientists analyse and research physical aspects of chemical structure and change within substances and develop chemical techniques used in the manufacture or modification of natural substances and processed products.

Biological scientists and biochemists examine and investigate the morphology, structure, chemistry and physical characteristics of living organisms, including their inter-relationships, environments and diseases.
