Who is it for?
This course is ideal for those in roles such as Maintenance and Automation Engineers.
Even for those with little or no experience of PLC and industrial control systems, the course will give you the skills to write a program, integrate systems and fault find or make amendments to programs, using industry level equipment/software, such as Siemens S7.

Entry Requirements
This course is ideal for those who already possess an understanding of electrical/automation systems.

What does the course involve?
The course covers items such as:
- Be able to understand programs
- Understand Complex Instructions
- Be able to write STL and FBD PLC programs
- Be able to configure PLC functions
- Be able to add diagnostics features to IO cards
- PLC to PLC Communications
- Be able to configure and troubleshoot
- Be able to operate the HMI software to make it perform certain tasks
- Understand basic concept of tags etc and communications with the PLC
- Be able to backup and restore a program when required
- Be able to perform basic system diagnostics when a problem occurs
- Be able to add basic functions to screens, Pushbuttons, Numeric Display, Bargraphs, Trends etc
- Working safely on modern industrial electrical/electronic control equipment
- Systematically interrogation of a range of commonly used PLCs
- Understanding how PLCs are incorporated into modern electrical circuits
- Interpreting basic levels of ladder diagrams to facilitate change
- Gaining a basic understanding of inverter variable speed drives and making adjustments
- Carrying out basic checks on variable speed drives
- Basic trouble shooting/fault finding on PLCs
- Understanding basic HMI communications with the PLC
- Performing basic system diagnostics when a problem occurs via HMIs
- Adding basic functions to screens of HMIs

How is the course assessed?
This is a college-certificated course and will be assessed through observation of practical tasks.
