Entry Requirements
No prior knowledge is required for this course as it starts from scratch and assumes no previous experience, however an understanding of basic 3D CAD would be expected. If you need to develop this, then please refer to our other ‘introductory’ part time course in 3D CAD.

What does the course involve?
The course aims to be very practical, as we believe the best way to learn is to do it! Every delegate works on their own training equipment, enabling you to get the most from the course. The aim of this course is for delegates to develop the understanding and skills needed to use both ‘on-line’ and ‘off-line’ programming to produce CNC components.
The course covers items such as:
- Working safely, complying with health and safety legislation, regulations and other relevant guidelines
- Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
- Types of programming used to control CNC machines (Conversational and ISO programming systems)
- Mounting material in hold devices
- Datum setting
- Type, setting and application of cutting tools
- Tool maintenance
-
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed practically by your tutor and delegates receive a certificate of attendance.
