  • Who is it for?

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a broad based course which offers a focused qualification for school leavers who wish to follow a programme of study that can be directly related to work experience and/or to an aspect of employment that they are in or wish to move into. The BTEC Level 2 Diploma offers you pathways into employment, further education and higher education. It can lead you to junior level positions in a wide variety of career areas, including care homes, nursing, occupational therapy, chiropody, social and community work and counselling. You will acquire skills and knowledge which are transferable and will enable you to meet changing circumstances with confidence. A Merit on the programme will enable you to apply for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Heath & Social Care and follow a career pathway into higher education and employment. You can apply for employment in Health & Social Care and then follow the NVQ pathway. You can apply for work based training in Health & Social Care, Childcare and other subject areas. Work Experience: This is an important part of the programme. You will have the opportunity to undertake two week experience placements in Health and/or Social Care settings. A minimum of 30 hours work experience is expected.

  • Entry Requirements

You need to have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language and maths, or a level 1 qualification in Health and Social Care or Childcare plus a minimum of a grade 3 in English language and maths. The College is a registered body under the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and will enable students to apply for a Disclosure check.

If you are applying for a place you need to be willing to discuss previous convictions, reprimands, cautions or final warnings prior to enrolling on the course. This will allow us to provide you with appropriate information, advice and guidance on an individual basis.

  • What does the course involve?
