This Construction Support Technician Apprenticeship is taught at our London Road campus, with a day release model of one day per week. The remainder of the working week is set in the workplace with assessor visits and observation.

  • Who is it for?

    This occupation is found in and throughout the construction and built environment sector, including construction contracting and associated supply chain subcontractors. Construction Support Technicians operate in a range of settings including estimating, planning, buying, site, quantity surveying and design and build roles.

    The broad purpose of the occupation is working in an exciting and dynamic environment which could be in an office or on a construction site at the heart of the contracting organisations including versatile activities using digital processes and systems to secure future projects and to enable progress and completion of actual construction sites. 

    Roles and responsibilities may include:  

    • interacting with professional and technical teams across different parts of the organisation, potentially on a range of sites or in an office environment
    • be responsible for supporting construction contracting teams with the inputting and progression of digital project information linked to resources using industry standard and specialist software in office and site environments
    • Effectively recognising site hazards and safe working practices with thorough knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation to ensure compliance with company site procedures and processes.

    ensuring timely communication linked to the progress and completion of all tasks that you are set with a clear mandate to identify any issues as and when they arise; wherever possible resolving those issues using your own initiative

  • Entry Requirements

    Individual employers will determine their own entry requirements, but the typical entry requirements for this Apprenticeship will be Maths and English GCSE at a 4 or above.

  • Additional Notes

    Typically, this Level 3 Apprenticeship will take 24 months to complete, plus the End Point Assessment period. Please be aware that this can be reduced, dependant on prior learning and previous qualifications obtained.

  • What do I do next?

    To be a Construction Support Technician apprentice, you will need an employer who can offer you a specific role relevant to this apprenticeship and release you for your training. Once you have an employer in place, you can apply online. Inspectors of standards and regulations undertake investigations and inspections to verify and ensure compliance with acts, regulations and other requirements in respect of: buildings; weights, measures and trade descriptions; the installation and safety of electrical, gas and water supplies and equipment; marine pollution, ships’ structures, equipment and accommodation; the treatment of animals; the operation of commercial vehicles; the welfare, health and safety in factories and all work sites subject to the provisions in the Factory Acts.
