Who is it for?
The Level 3 Diploma is suitable for those working or volunteering in unsupervised roles that support pupils' learning. This course is career related and is open to students who wish to be working as a Senior Teaching Assistant; Senior Learning Support Assistant; Senior Special Educational Needs Assistant or other related roles. This course provides a route into the Foundation Degree in Education.

Entry Requirements
Progression from a level 2 Supporting and Teaching course is desirable but not essential. Experience of working with children in some capacity and possessing GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 is an advantage.
You must have a basic knowledge of how the classroom works for children and young people. You need to be enthusiastic and have a desire to support children through the most important stages of their lives.
You will be required to source a placement for a minimum of 1 day week and acquire a DBS certificate.

What does the course involve?
This qualification will provide an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in primary, secondary or special schools. You will undertake 11 mandatory units covering communication, developing professional relationships, safeguarding children's welfare, equality, diversity and inclusion, child development, health and safety, behaviour management, supporting learning activities and assessment of learning. You will also be able to choose up to 4 optional units to suit your current experience and future career path.
