Shrewsbury College Group today welcomes the publication of a report by the Further Education Commissioner, which praises staff for their response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The report identifies that “Senior leaders responded well to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rigorous procedures are in place to ensure that staff and students conform to the health and safety measures that have been put in place”.
The report also states that “Senior leadership has responded well to measures that were required to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of students. Measures that were observed during the intervention visit were rigorous and appeared to be working well”.
The Further Education Commissioner’s team spoke to students from all three of the college campuses and judged that “Students were pleased to be back at college and understood the importance of observing the COVID-19 safety measures that the college had put in place”.
James Staniforth, Principal, said:
“The commissioner's report reflects the dedication of staff throughout the college in continuously improving safeguarding and their hard work to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of students during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
“The commissioner makes a number of recommendations in relation to strategic planning and leadership development that we are working through.”
“We look forward to another visit by the commission in March 2021.”
