The Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards held at the Mercure Telford Centre Hotel on the 3rd of October, celebrated the achievements of apprentices and employers across the region.

Shrewsbury Colleges Group was especially proud to see six of their partnered employers and apprentices shortlisted as finalists, and even more thrilled when some were able to walk away as winners.

WR Partners of Shrewsbury took home the prestigious title of Best Large Apprentice Employer of the Year. This accountancy and business support firm recruits between 10 and 20 apprentices annually, demonstrating its commitment to developing young talent. Moreover, WR Partners has launched a new study hub – a digital learning platform designed to support its apprentices in their education and professional growth.

The Medium-Sized Apprentice Employer Award was claimed by Pave Aways of Knockin. This employer has a longstanding reputation for nurturing apprentices, having successfully kick-started the careers of at least 70 individuals through their apprenticeship programme, on varying pathways. Their dedication to the next generation of apprentices showcases the lasting impact of apprenticeships on local industries.

Shrewsbury Colleges Group congratulates Carl Jones for orchestrating this fantastic celebration of apprenticeship achievements. The celebration of apprenticeships did not end after the presentation, with an exciting performance to bring the evening to a close, by one of the most famous apprentices of all time, Elvis (whose career started out as an electrician prior to being a Vegas Superstar!)

The awards night not only highlighted the success stories of current apprentices but also underscored the importance of apprenticeships in shaping future careers and strengthening the workforce in Shropshire.

Congratulations to all finalists and winners!
