The college is pleased to announce that we have been re-awarded a Gold Accreditation from People 1st for our hospitality and catering provision. In addition, People 1st will continue to recognise the college as a Centre of Excellence for Food & Beverage Services. These accolades sit alongside the AA Highly Commended College Rosette which was recently re-awarded to the Origins Restaurant.

Daniel Gibbons, the college’s senior chef lecturer, said, ‘We’re delighted to get this award, as it recognises that we have the right facilities and standards of teaching available for our students. These aspects, alongside our excellent links with local employers, mean that we provide students with the best possible opportunity to grow and develop their skills for a career in the hospitality industry.’

Jackie Swan, Curriculum Director for Service Industries, added: ‘Being re-awarded a Gold Accreditation as well as achieving a Highly Commended College AA Rosette again for the Origins Restaurant is such an accolade to the fantastic work that our chefs and front of house staff and students achieve. We are incredibly proud of them all. The attention to detail is absolutely crucial in gaining this level of recognition within the sector. Thanks also go to our strong industry partners and all that they contribute.’

James Staniforth, Principal of the college concluded: ‘I am really pleased and immensely proud that the hard work of the students, staff and leadership of catering and Origins have been recognised twice in such a short period of time. The college approach is to put students and customers at the heart of everything we do, and it is gratifying to see this ethos being recognised with these awards.
