Shrewsbury Colleges Group would like to thank the staff and students who have engaged in the consultation on the future of vaping at the London Road Campus.
Following this consultation with staff and students, vaping will be banned at London Road Campus from 1 September 2024. English and Welsh Bridge campuses are already smoking and vaping free.
This ban applies to students and staff. We are contacting all current students directly to inform them of the change.
Staff and students were concerned about the health implications of vaping, including the dangers of illegal vapes. It was also noted that there was an anomaly in vaping not being permitted on the grounds of the English and Welsh Bridge campuses.
We understand that this change may require adjustments for some members of our college community. To support this transition, the college will develop a programme of support ready for the new academic year in consultation with Public Health England.
We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our students, staff, and visitors as we implement this important policy.
We will work towards banning smoking from 1 September 2025 at the London Road Campus.
