Level 3 Extended Diploma Travel & Tourism
Previous school: Shrewsbury Academy

This course has always interested me from the very beginning of year one. Understanding how the travel and tourism industry works can offer so many amazing job opportunities. The trips we go on have been hugely beneficial in terms of gaining knowledge and after completing 60 hours of work experience at Opulent Travel I have gained confidence and knowledge about this forever expanding sector.

Access to HE: Health

The Access course has provided me with the skills I need to go onto higher education. Having spent a long time out of education, the course helped me to practice, and improve my academic writing, referencing and researching skills. It’s enabled me to build my knowledge around relevant subjects in preparation for University and increased my confidence. The assistance with my UCAS application was valuable, having it checked before applying strengthened my chances of being accepted into my University of choice. What really stood out to me was the support offered by the tutors, it’s fantastic, they encourage your independence whilst guiding and motivating you along the way.

Engineering Apprentice at Ricoh

I studied Product Design at A Level and really enjoyed it. Taking on an Engineering Apprenticeship seemed like the natural progression from that, and I’ve appreciated every minute of it. It is great working for Ricoh and being able to study at SCG, as I get so many opportunities, such as taking part in WorldSkills.

A Level Fine Art (Biology and English Literature)
Previous Institution: Priory School

Art at Shrewsbury Colleges Group is so expansive, it’s not just all about portraiture. Your ideas can be endless and the teachers allow you to explore all forms. I really enjoy A Level Art, it’s something I do at College and a hobby for me at home.

Printmaking Workshop
I have learnt many new techniques in this course. We have been able to explore individual ideas with just the right amount of support and guidance in a relaxed and creative environment. I am excited to continue printing at home, having discovered a process I love.

Business Apprentice at Kingsland Financial

I tried the Business Administration Apprenticeship without a lot of work experience or relevant qualifications and very little confidence. My employer gave me a safe and stable environment to learn new and different skills and liaised with the college which tailored the qualification modules to suit my job role. It was an excellent route for me because it gave me the opportunity to learn new skills I had never imagined I would be good at.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Rugby Education Pathway
Previous school: Idsall School

My whole life is rugby. I study it at college, play for the Telford Hornets and do it as enrichment. On the girls' rugby team, we're at various levels, so it's about helping each other out and getting to the best level we can as a team. I want to go to uni, but I'll be in a rugby team while I'm there.

Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice

I have come to the end of my apprenticeship and have gained not only practical joinery skills but also life skills such as organisation and communication. I have learnt how to work safely and well in a team environment. This apprenticeship has been a brilliant way to earn and learn along the way and has set me up with skills and qualifications to carry me through the rest of my working life.
