A Level Classical Civilisation (English Combined and Health & Social Care BTEC)
Previous School: Meole Brace School

I have always enjoyed Classics and the Greek gods – Percy Jackson is my favourite book series. Classical Civilisation is a bit different from other A Levels and I love studying the heroes and myths. It also looks at an element of History and is overall a really interesting subject. I am going to continue Classics at University of Winchester, then I hope to become a Tour Guide in Greece and Italy – telling all my customers the interesting things about gods and mythology.

I love Drama and it is the field I want my future career to be in. A Level Drama is confidence building and eye opening and I have had a really great first year. I am looking into acting on stage and screen after College. My favourite thing this year has been learning Brecht techniques.

Course Studied: A Level Economics
Course: 912

A Level Economics (Politics, Psychology, French)
Previous Institution: Bishop's Castle Community College

I want to study Economics at university and I really enjoyed it at GCSE. The subject gives you a wider perspective on the world and I particularly enjoy behavioural economics: asking and learning why. SCG had all the subjects I wanted and to be able to study in this town is great.

A Level Economics (Politics, History)

Both my brothers came to Shrewsbury Colleges Group and really recommended it. I wanted more freedom at College, so this was the perfect choice. I enjoy studying how individual businesses work in Economics and I want to continue pursuing it at University level.

A Level Biology (Chemistry, Maths)
Previous Institution: Church Stretton School

I took Biology A Level because I have always wanted to be a vet, and I chose to study at SCG because I liked the area - Shrewsbury is such a nice place to be. My favourite thing to do is dissection because it is hands-on and you learn so much in those lessons. Next year I hope to study Veterinary Science at Bristol University.

A Level Film Studies (English Literature and Classical Civilisation)
Previous school: Lacon Childe School

Film Studies has equipped me with various analytical skills which are particularly useful for essay writing. However, more importantly, it has taken me on a cinematic adventure, establishing a love and appreciation for film I previously didn’t possess.

Applied Science BTEC (Sport BTEC, A Level Maths)
Previous Institution: The Priory School

Applied Science is a very interactive and fun subject. Experiments are my favourite thing to do and there are lots to get stuck into. Applied Science can really help you gain UCAS points and get good results. This summer I will be going to work at a sports camp in Pennsylvania through Camp America. I would then like to continue into a sports-based career and this BTEC will be an asset.

A Level Geography (Business BTEC and ICT BTEC)
Previous school: Mary Webb School

Geography is a really interesting subject and you can have fun studying it here. You get the independence to do your own field work, but the teachers will take the time to help you out if you need it. It’s so different to GCSE Geography, you look at things differently and experience more.
