- Course Studied: HNC in Music Production
- Course: 1117
HNC in Music Technology
I chose to study at Shrewsbury Colleges Group because of the brilliant resources and teaching. It’s also great doing a HE course closer to home because I am familiar with my surroundings and have all my family and friends nearby. I am aware that there are less women in the music production industry, but I know I have the ability to succeed. I’m excited for females in the music industry because things are changing
- Course Studied: Level 3 in Childcare
- Course: 731
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education
Previous school: Meole Brace School
After looking around other colleges and the other campuses, Childcare and Education at London Road Campus was my favourite option. I have always enjoyed being around children and after College I will be working at Opportunity Pre-School. On this course I’ve learnt strategies to manage my work, coursework and personal life. Being allowed to do practical placements is really useful and it’s great to work with current practitioners in a current situation.
- Course Studied: Level 3 in IT
- Course: 713
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Computing
Previous Institution: Church Stretton School
I came to Shrewsbury Colleges Group because I had friends who spoke very highly of their experiences here. I enjoy the games development and web production and it’s great to turn your own ideas into a reality.
- Course Studied: Level 1 in Electrical Installation
- Course: 745
Level 1 Electrical
Previous school: Sir John Talbot's School
Electrical Installation gets you ready for the work environment. It is totally different to school, which is what I wanted for my further education and the teachers treat you with respect. They let you know when you’re doing well and they’ll put you right if you’re going wrong.
- Course Studied: Level 3 in Engineering
- Course: 750
Level 3 in Engineering
Previous school: Holy Trinity School, Telford
Level 2 was mostly practical and this year on Level 3 there is a lot of theory and it's preparing me for university. I live outside of Shrewsbury and the transport links to the College are good.
- Course Studied: A Level English
- Course: 917
A Level English Language (Law and Drama & Theatre)
Previous school: Mary Webb School
I came here because it was local to me and I enjoyed the pre-enrolment days which were well organised. English Language is a good A Level to have and it is super interesting to see how language has evolved and changed through time. The teachers are a great help and the resources are brilliant; there are plenty of text books.
- Course Studied: Level 1 Professional Chef Diploma
- Course: 814
Level 3 Professional Chef Diploma
Previous school: Shrewsbury Academy
I would love to go on to study for a degree in something like nutrition. My tutor is currently helping me look at possible university courses that might suit me. After that I would either like to find a job in that field or possibly go into teaching. The whole feeling around campus is a really positive one. All the teachers are supportive and want us to do well.
- Course Studied: Level 3 in Creative Media Production
- Course: 729
Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production
Previous school: Lord Williams’s School, Thame
I feel passionate about Creative Media and I really enjoy film editing and adding effects. I want to continue with film after College, either at university or in employment. You get to do so much on this course including film, game design, graphics, photography and editing, plus you can pick your own specialism at Level 3.
- Course Studied: Level 1 Diploma in Transport Maintenance (IMI)
- Course: 829
Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Service and Repair
Previous school: Shrewsbury Academy
I was on the part-time six week car maintenance course and enjoyed it so much that I decided to gain my Level 2 diploma. I think the course covers everything perfectly and I really like doing the electrics modules.
