Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT
Previous school: Charlton School

I chose this course because it is practical and would prepare me for the real world. I have developed my skills and I am now prepared for my degree Apprenticeship with PebblePad. The people on this course are so friendly and the teachers are really helpful. You’ll never get bored with the huge variety of areas that you cover, like business, security and game development.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business
Previous school: Ercall Wood School

I originally took this course as an all-rounder as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after college, however I have really enjoyed the course and am looking at a career in business more seriously now. I am considering going onto the HND course to further my knowledge. Doing the HND at SCG will mean I know other students and have a rapport with the teachers, will not have far to travel and it will cost me a lot less than at university.

HNC in Computing

I love the college and it was really convenient to continue from the Level 3 computing course. The course is helping me decide what area of computing I would like to work in. I really like the social aspect of HE study as well as what we are learning, and it is interesting covering so many areas of computing.

HNC in Mechanical Engineering

I enjoyed the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and got on really well with the tutors so I thought I would progress to the HNC at SCG. The tutors and syllabus are really good compared to anything else offered locally and the facilities are excellent as well.

HND in Business

I enjoy doing this course because there’s a range of modules and it’s inclusive of a lot of different elements. You can take each subject from a different angle, such as focusing on social media marketing within marketing.

16-18 ESOL

You learn lots of vital skills on the ESOL course, like how to conduct yourself in interviews and manage your time and coursework. I really enjoyed the course and became more confident with my presentation skills. The ESOL course has helped me to improve my English and given me the opportunity to learn new things every day. Now I have a better job, new friends and more free time. At SCG I have been taught to read, write and speak better English.

16-18 ESOL

ESOL gives me the chance to study, improve my English and decide what I want to do in the future. I also like how the teachers explain things when I don’t understand something. The teachers treat us all the same, wherever we come from and other students show respect to each other. The College has given me the chance to learn and do things I haven’t done before.

Level 2 Diploma in Business
Previous School: Church Stretton School

I liked the small business planning part of the course most of all. We were taught the basics of how to start your own business up and the financial planning that goes into that, so the course has given me ideas about how I could organise my own business and move forward in the right direction. My mum runs her own small catering business and I want to start a similar business of my own when I finish college.

Level 2 Painting & Decorating
Previous school: Telford College

My favourite thing that I’ve studied is decorative skills, which involve doing different techniques like stencilling and marbling. It’s quite intricate work and it was a challenge to learn, but I’m really proud of what I’ve done. You’ve just got to try new techniques out and know that you’re going to learn how to do it successfully when you’ve got a tutor as friendly and helpful as my tutors. My dream is to have my own interior design studio, specialising in working with small spaces and proving that you don’t need a lot of room to have a great home.

I chose Biology because it links up really well with my other chosen subjects and it will hold me in good stead for going to university to study paramedic sciences so that I can become a Paramedic.
