Printmaking Workshop

I have learnt many new techniques whilst on the printmaking course with Jay. We have been able to explore individual ideas with just the right amount of support and guidance in a relaxed and creative environment. I am excited to continue printing at home, having discovered a process I love.

HNC in Performing Arts

I decided to study the HNC after an unsuccessful year of auditions. The course had the purpose of extending my skill set as well as allowing me to gain more experience and knowledge on being a performer, preparing me for my second year of auditions. Because of this course, I earned a place at The Arden School of Theatre to study acting. When auditioning, the head of acting remarked on how myself and other students who studied the HNC seemed knowledgeable and well prepared. This course and the teachers helped me grow and prepare for the industry that I was heading into.

Previous Institution: Church Stretton School

After College I would like to join the Marines and I need my Maths and English GCSE to do that. I have retaken both with Shrewsbury Colleges Group and got a 4 in Maths last year and I’m predicted to get a 4 in English this year. I used to really struggle with equations, but once it was properly explained in class, I gained more understanding.

Level 2 Diploma in Public Services

I had to retake my Maths and English GCSEs at Shrewsbury Colleges Group. I studied each of them once a week and the teachers were really good. Previously I had struggled with equations, but some focused teaching soon helped me get my head around them. They are small classes so you get plenty of attention to help you progress. I came away with a grade 4 in both GCSEs which will allow me to progress onto the Level 3.

Level 3 Bench Joinery
Previous Institution: Thomas Adams School

I grew up around carpentry as it was my Grandad’s profession and I want to join the Royal Engineers, so this subject is right for me. I really enjoy the visualisation that comes with bench joinery, being able to see a product and know that you can create it yourself.

Level 4 IMI Certificate in Advanced Automotive Studies

It is interesting to learn all of the advanced diagnostics for the vehicles and it helps give a broader mindset on what we are actually doing and gives you that next step going into the motor trade. The extra knowledge, such as using the syliscopes and looking at waveforms and wave diagrams, not to mention the qualification, is going to help me stand out from other job candidates.

PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training

I wanted to develop my career and move on from learning support and teach in the area of SEN. I felt I could do more with my life skills and experience of having my own child with learning difficulties. The course has gone beyond my expectations with the superb resources and brilliant teaching from tutors who are so professional and dedicated.

HNC in Construction & the Built Environment
Previous Institution: Meole Brace School

I have recently been appointed as Contracts Manager with Bow Construction and wanted to further my knowledge. There are good facilities here and it feels very comfortable in the new HE Centre. I’m really enjoying the design element and learning about new innovations that are being used in construction. After I’ve completed the HNC I would like to go on to Wolverhampton University.
