Level 3 in Beauty Make-Up Techniques
Previous school: Lacon Childe School
I progressed from the Level 2 course and really enjoy it - you need to have a passion for beauty and be willing to work hard. After college I would like to work in a salon and then, with some experience, set up on my own. Having a commercial salon on campus is a great experience for the students.

A Level English Literature (History, Biology)
Previous Institution: Belvidere School
I loved English Literature at GCSE, so wanted to carry on studying it at A Level. It is really interesting finding out about different contexts and characters. We look at a wide variety of literature, but my favourite so far is Shakespeare’s Coriolanus. This subject has really improved my analysis and ability to make judgements, which will be vital for my future career.

A Level French and German (History and Politics)
Previous Institution: William Brookes
The College offered me the freedom I wanted as I couldn’t study German at my previous school’s sixth form. I want to study French and German at university and go into diplomatic service after that, so languages are very important for me. I enjoy the depth we go into in each language and because the classes are smaller you can dive into more issues with your teachers and peers.

English Combined (Psychology, Drama & Theatre)
Previous Institution: Charlton School
I have always been interested in English, so when I came for a taster day and the English teachers were so good, I felt I had to study it at A Level. I have really enjoyed studying The Handmaid’s Tale. I would like to study English with Drama at university and my dream would
be to work as a script writer. English combined is such an interesting subject and so different from GCSEs. You get to choose your coursework and there is a respectful freedom.

A Level Graphic Communication (Fine Art and Film Studies)

I have developed so much as a creative and changed the way I see things doing Graphic Communication at A Level. You see other people’s work in different ways and can draw amazing inspiration from so many places. I chose to come to SCG because the courses and facilities were the best available to me and I wanted to be in a new location.

A Level German (French and Politics)
Previous school: Overseas School
Modern foreign language A Levels are in high-demand and something you can use in everyday life – it is an amazing skill to have and not many other colleges offer German A Level. Having a language on your CV can open doors for you. The oral presentations and debates in class build your confidence. I really like the size of the classes and we have all the resources we could need. I plan to study French and German at university.
- Course Studied: Psychology A Level

A Level Psychology (Religious Studies, Media Studies)
Previous school: Corbet School
I chose SCG because it gave me the subject choices. I am really interested in Clinical Psychology and want to continue studying that aspect at university. I actually came to college with other ideas about my future, but after completing some of the Psychology classes my mind was changed. It is fascinating learning about memory, how the brain works and why we behave the way we do within society. There is something for everyone in this A Level – it is a very interactive course within a friendly environment.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care
Previous school: William Brookes School
When I was younger I spent a lot of time in hospital and the wonderful staff inspired me to pursue a career as a midwife. The teachers always answer your queries and help you manage your time. Last year I got a distinction for Level 2 and was eager to come back this year. The partnership between SCG and the NHS offers an amazing opportunity. I have started as a Health Care Assistant at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Level 4 AAT Diploma in Accounting
I wanted to change my career and went to work with D.R.E & Co. Chartered Accountants, who put me onto this course to get all my qualifications. After I have finished studying at SCG I will do my charter training at university. This is a widely recognised qualification that you need if you want to be a Junior Accountant.

Level 3 ACTIVE IQ Certificate in Personal Training
Previous Institution: Mary Webb School
I left school and did the Diploma, then returned to do the Level 2 Personal Training course which gave me the expertise to be a fitness instructor, as well as specialist skills from modules in spinning, circuits, kettlebells and exercise to music. While I was doing the course I started working in local gyms and decided to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, which is a distance learning course and allowed me to fit my studies around my work.
